Business Listing & Ownership Verification Policy

We take accuracy and ownership seriously — every listing is reviewed to ensure legitimacy, fairness, and trust across our platform

This document outlines the steps and processes used to manage business listings, verify ownership, and handle disputes on our platform. The goal is to create a trusted environment while maintaining accessibility for small business owners.

1. Listing Submission

  • Any user may submit a new business listing.
  • Required fields: Business Name, Address, Contact Info, Description, and Email.
  • Listings remain in Pending status until email verification is completed.

2. Email Verification

  • A verification link is sent via email.
  • If the domain matches the business website (e.g., @businessname.com): listing is marked Verified (Auto).
  • If from a generic domain (e.g., @gmail.com): listing is Verified (Generic) and flagged for manual review.

3. Review Period

  • After email verification, listings enter a Review Period (e.g., 24–48 hours).
  • Admins may:
    • Approve listing immediately
    • Flag for further verification
    • Request additional information

4. Listing Visibility

  • Once reviewed (or auto-approved), the listing becomes public.
  • Optional badge: “Verified by Email” or “Verified by Business Domain.”

5. Reporting & Disputes

  • Each listing includes a link to “Report Incorrect Info” or “Dispute Ownership.”
  • Disputes collect the claimant’s contact info, description, and optional proof.

6. Dispute Resolution Process

  • Admin reviews the claim and listing history.
  • If needed, listing is temporarily unpublished.
  • Admin requests:
    • Business domain email verification; or
    • Official documentation (e.g., registration, utility bill, ID).
  • Failure to respond in time may result in removal or transfer.

7. Final Decision

  • Admin makes final decision based on submitted evidence.
  • Action is logged and optionally communicated to both parties.

8. Admin Tools

  • Filters for unverified, disputed, or generic-email listings.
  • Action log per listing.
  • Manual override capabilities.
Notes:
We aim to support small business owners while protecting verified listings.
Business-domain email is preferred for smoother verification.
False claims may result in restricted access to listing tools.
